1. Extra-Virgin Olive Oil Preserves Memory AND your Brain!
A team of researchers at LKSOM found that Extra-Virgin Olive Oil “reduces brain inflammation, and most importantly activates a process known as autophagy…by which cells break down and clear out the intra cellular debris and toxins, such as amyloid plaques and tau tangles.”
In two groups of mice, one fed a regular diet, and one fed extra-virgin olive oil, olive-oil-mice showed a remarkable change. The oil eaters stood out because of improved connections between neurons and a dramatic increase in autography activation (memory). Dr. Pratico’ explained, “Thanks to the autophagy activation, memory and synaptic integrity were preserved…and Alzheimer’s disease was significantly reduced.” (Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, June 2017)
